Zeeta Maharaj
Zeeta Maharaj, Montreal-Based Grief Specialist, Podcaster, Vlogger & Advocate
Born to connect, Zeeta is dedicated to uplifting others by sharing real, human-centred stories. Her journey began at age 15, when she co-founded Vinyl, a music magazine rooted in Montreal, sparking a lifelong pursuit of media, music, art, and culture. Over the years, whether through print, radio, TV, vlogging, or podcasting, I’ve continually sought to highlight voices that inspire, entertain, and remind us of our shared humanity.
As a plus-size model, she championed the importance of representation—what's beautiful comes in all forms, and diversity matters. And connecting as a speaker and event host with that same authenticity and dedication to self, birthed the natural progression to producing and hosting the It’s About Time Podcast. This offered a platform to amplify the extraordinary stories of everyday people, shining light on hope, triumph, and authentic bonds.
The Pivot
A profound shift has reshaped her calling. A course in her master’s program, demystifying death & dying planted the seeds of a different vocation. What was always a whisper turned into a much more profound calling. Zeeta began questioning how she could truly use my life to be of service, and through devastation, grew clarity, calm and new career. The death of her parents four days apart crystallized her sense of purpose and propelled her into the heartfelt work of grief support. Zeeta now steps forward as a grief specialist, blending empathy with storytelling to guide those navigating profound loss with compassion, understanding, and healing.
She has launched the Lotus Grief Centre, where healing blooms.
Her podcast It’s About Time provides the freedom and space to ask the types of questions she wouldn’t be able to in conventional media; to highlight amazing successes from ordinary people who have been able to be their own kind of extraordinary. The new take on the pod dives into loss and coping strategies from interviewers who share their vulnerability and honesty with Zeeta’s guideance and ability to carefully navigate their stories.
“I believe everyone has a really interesting story to tell. It’s About Time gives me the chance to highlight that we are all connected through a common shared human experience.”
